Nubble Phase IV Project Update 08/29/24
This courtesy notice is to let our residents, customers and the traveling public know what to expect related to scheduling, alternate routes, traffic delays and road closures regarding the Nubble Road Phase IV project set to begin on September 9, 2024 (Phase IV starts at Third Avenue and ends at Shelton Avenue). This cooperative York Water District and York Public Works project includes replacing 1,010’+ of watermain, road reconstruction, improved drainage, and the addition of a pedestrian sidewalk.
-
Communication and cooperation is key between the Utilities and YDPW to provide substantial cost savings opportunities for all involved.
-
NM Curtis Earthworks of Berwick, Maine is the selected contractor for the watermain replacement.
-
We will work to avoid any potential conflicts.
-
Videos of the area will be taken before, during and after construction
For water customers served from this water main on Nubble Road, temporary lines have been installed to serve your homes during the construction period to avoid service interruptions. There will be no cost to you for any work involved in connecting your existing water service to the new infrastructure. All work will be completed within the public right of way. Work on private property will be limited to no more than 5’ in from the edge of the right of way, only to the extent necessary to tie into your existing waterline.
Our trained staff will inspect the type and condition of your waterline to make sure it is not a galvanized or lead pipe supplying your home with drinking water. Any deficiency found will be reported to the property owner asap.
-
Road closures will be necessary during construction due to the limited space available in the area.
-
The road will be reopened at the end of each day.
-
Robbie Henson YWD’s “Crew Leader” will be York Water District’s onsite inspector during the water main replacement portion to ensure quality control and most important to assist residents with daily access. His contact information is enclosed.
-
To minimize delays, a Detour will be set up for the traveling public that may want to visit Nubble Light.
-
All traffic will be controlled by a traffic flagging detail throughout the project.
-
Police, Fire, Emergency vehicles, Mail delivery, trash collection will not be delayed.
