Text/HTML COMMUNITY CONSERVATION The two Districts own, manage, and protect nearly 5000 acres of heavily wooded land surrounding the water supply reservoirs. Adjacent to the District owned lands and surrounding Mount Agamenticus is another nearly 6,000 acres of land owned by 6 other state, local and non-profit landowners, which manage the land for conservation and of course watershed protection. Text/HTML MOUNT AGAMENTICUS STEERING COMMITTEE 6 agencies together with the York Water District form the Mount Agamenticus Steering Committee. Members include: the Towns of York and South Berwick, The Nature Conservancy, Great Works Regional Land Trust, York Land Trust, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and the York Water District. The Mt Agamenticus Steering Committee was formed to cooperatively establish planning guidelines with emphasis on preserving the natural resources, water quality and maintaining the recreational resources of this area.
