DRINKING WATER TREATMENT
York Water District Josiah Chase Water Filtration Plant The Josiah Chase Water Filtration Plant was put into service in May of 1990. It was designed to produce water that meets or exceeds all EPA primary and secondary drinking water standards. The treatment plant is designed to normally produce four million gallons of treated water per day but is capable of producing more under ideal conditions. The Filtration Plant is located off of Chase’s Pond Road across the street from Chase’s Pond Dam. The treatment process the plant uses is called Direct Filtration. Direct Filtration is a specific series of processes including coagulation and filtration but specifically does not include a particle settling step known as sedimentation.
